Key takeaways

Amazon has the strictest image rules of any platform here, and they’re enforced: if no main image meets the requirements, Amazon may temporarily remove the listing from search until one does. These are the US Seller Central rules.

Amazon main image rules

  • Show the entire product, with nothing cut off, and show it only once
  • Show one unit plus any accessories that are included
  • No placeholders, including temporary ones
  • No props or accessories that aren’t included with the product
  • No part of a mannequin, including a mannequin on a hanger
  • No packaging unless it’s an important product feature
  • Footwear: a single shoe, facing left, at a 45-degree angle

Those rules are from Amazon’s product image guide. Every image, not just the main one, must match the product title and avoid Amazon logos and badges, customer review graphics, claims such as free shipping, and nudity. Photorealistic AI-generated people need a contains-synthetic-performer metadata tag.

Extra rules for clothing

  • Adult clothing main images are photographed on a standing model; accessories are not shown on models
  • Children’s and baby undergarments, leotards and swimwear must be shown without models
  • Prohibited in main images: visible mannequins, hangers or holders, folded products, visible tags or packaging, and multiple views
  • Images at 1,000 px or larger in height or width activate zoom; children’s wear images below 1,000 px are prohibited

How Photolister handles Amazon photos

  • The Pure White style is meant for white-background main images. Check the result against Amazon’s RGB 255, 255, 255 rule, especially around soft edges
  • Paid photo packs include an Amazon/Etsy export preset at 2000 × 2000 JPG: JPEG as Amazon recommends, inside the 500 to 10,000 px range, and large enough for zoom
  • Consistent framing keeps the whole product in frame, but it doesn’t guarantee Amazon’s 85% fill. Check the fill on each main image
  • Photolister doesn’t put garments on models, and hanger removal is shown on the homepage as coming soon. For adult clothing main images, Amazon’s model rule still applies

Your first five photos on Photolister’s free trial include standard 2000 × 2000 downloads in Studio White, Pure White, Concrete or Transparent. Marketplace export presets, restyles and custom backgrounds come with a one-time paid photo pack. Presets prepare files; they don’t guarantee a marketplace will accept a listing.
