Poshmark photo requirements (2026): 16 photos and 3:4 portrait covers

Key takeaways
- You can add up to 16 photos and 1 video to a Poshmark listing.
- Since Poshmark’s March 2026 update, cover photos display in 3:4 portrait instead of square. Older square photos are framed automatically; updating them is optional.
- Poshmark doesn’t officially specify a minimum pixel size, file size or file format in the pages we checked.
- Its Community Guidelines ban images that promote sales off Poshmark, including QR codes that send buyers elsewhere.
Poshmark publishes very few hard numbers. The big change for 2026 is the shape: covers are portrait now, so a square photo with the item filling the frame can lose its sleeves or hem in the feed.

How to shoot for Poshmark’s 3:4 covers
- Shoot with your phone’s camera as it is; Poshmark notes phone cameras already default to 3:4 portrait
- Center the item vertically and horizontally
- Fill the frame with the item, full-length or close-up
- Leave a little space around the edges so the frame works across the app and web
- Use bright, even light so color and detail are true
These tips are from Poshmark’s portrait photo update of March 25, 2026. Its older photography guide from 2020 recommended shooting square; that advice is now out of date for covers. If you list on desktop, Poshmark frames your photo in portrait automatically and you can crop or zoom to adjust.
Do you need a white background for Poshmark?
Poshmark doesn’t require one. Its photography guide suggests a white or simple background for the cover shot and recommends a plain white sheet or white posterboard if you’re starting out. The 2026 portrait tips say to keep backgrounds clean and uncluttered. A white background for Poshmark covers is a safe choice, and staying consistent across listings matters as much as the color.
What Poshmark doesn’t allow in photos
- URLs, images or other off-platform locations that invite buyers to complete a sale off Poshmark
- QR codes that direct users off Poshmark, unless from a Poshmark-owned account
- Contact details such as an email address or phone number in public spaces
- Content you don’t own the rights to
These rules come from Poshmark’s Community Guidelines, which apply to listings and images. Poshmark doesn’t publish a specific rule against stock photos in the pages we checked, but using an image you don’t own the rights to breaks the guidelines, and buyers expect to see the actual item.
How Photolister handles Poshmark photos
If you want a photo editor for Poshmark, here is what Photolister does today, and what it doesn’t.
- Background removal gives every cover the white or simple background Poshmark suggests, and a closet that looks like a set
- Consistent framing keeps each item centered with space around it, which helps when Poshmark crops a square photo to portrait
- Photolister doesn’t have a Poshmark-specific 3:4 export preset today. The closest paid preset is Social 4:5 (1080 × 1350), which is portrait but not 3:4, so still preview the cover
- Hanger removal is listed as coming soon on the homepage, so it isn’t available yet
After uploading, look at the cover in the feed on your phone, not just inside the listing. Your first five photos on Photolister’s free trial include standard 2000 × 2000 downloads in Studio White, Pure White, Concrete or Transparent. Marketplace export presets, restyles and custom backgrounds come with a one-time paid photo pack. Presets prepare files; they don’t guarantee a marketplace will accept a listing.
